Your Wirral Caters for Scouts Needs

Your Wirral was pleased to support 29th Wallasey Scouts by purchasing new catering equipment for them to use on their camps.

Caroline Hunt, Leader of the group reports:

"We attended district camp over the bank holiday weekend and put all the equipment to good use. At times we were catering for over 50 people.  We also ran activities for the young people of the district over the weekend again using the new equipment, which saw over 100 youngsters involved in activities.

The water boiler meant we could not only have easy access to hot water to allow dish washing and hand cleaning, but also allowed a constant supply of hot water for hot drinks. This was very welcome by all given the at times wet and cold weather.

The new oven allowed us to run an activity involving cooking, we made Swedish cookies as the camp was themed around the world jamboree countries and our group were Sweden.  It also allowed a healthy option at dinner time, with skin on potato wedges being cooked and allowed for leaders’ food to be kept warm while the younger children were eating during the first sitting.

The fridge allowed the perishables to stay fresh, the cupboards kept the very busy mess tent tidy and kept food safely stored away and the new pans were a hit with all who used them.

Everyone who used the new equipment was very happy and expressed what an improvement it had made to the catering, and are all keen to use the equipment at the next event.  Thank you for your support in getting the new equipment and for helping support the group in running activities for the young people.
